The 1971 Pontiac Firebird, Formula & Trans Am
Lot#3

Site contributor Chris Giles owns this Lucerne Blue Trans Am. Chris writes:

"I have owned the '71 TA since December of 1976. It was my first car, and at the time it was a $2300 five-year-old used car. It was in pretty good, original condition with the exception of the paint; Navy blue with flames on the shaker and flames coming out of the air extractors! I am the third owner. The first owner had the custom paint applied.
The car was repainted with acrylic laquer Lucerne Blue in 1981, and still wears this paint today. This car is a pretty basic, lightly-optioned 455HO automatic, with blue standard interior, tilt wheel, AM/FM, Honeycombs, and deluxe belts as among the few options. Interestingly the car was invoiced to the Pontiac Motor Div. Retail Store in Pontiac, MI. According to Jim Mattison (PHS) at the time the "retail store" was a GM-owned dealership that sold primarily low-mile used GM company vehicles.
I assume the car was either an executive-driven company-car or some sort of marketing or engineering vehicle prior to its retail sale. It does not appear to have been modified other than the wheels which were changed from Honeycombs (PHS) to "KN" Rallys IIs when I received it in 1976."

Chris also owns a Lucerne Blue 1970 RAIII Formula, seen in the last pic, that can be seen at 1970 Firebirds Lot#3.

Aaron Moore owns this newly restified Formula. Aaron has a Firebird for every daughter. Aaron writes:

"This is a 1971 Formula Firebird. It has an automatic transmission, with a 400 engine.  I am replacing the 400 with a RAM AIR III motor, out of a 1970 Formula."

Aaron has quite a collection of Pontiacs that can all be seen here in the Gallery:
1977 Trans Am 400/4-speed can be seen in '77 Firebirds Lot#2
