This is an AMT kit of the 68' Firebird known as the "Tin Indian" raced by Bill Knafel. Recently T.D. Houser sent me the following information:

"It's detail is immaculate ! Molded in high detail white plastic, it can be built in one of three set- ups: Race, HardTop Street, and Convertible street. I happen to believe that the model came out before the actual 1968 model Firebird because of subtle changes in body styling like Hide-a-way headlights and emblem placements. The model also happens to be a "400" car with the twin hood scoops and tach molded into the hood. The race mode also includes a set of hard plastic racing slicks molded to appear as if they were "wrinkling" from a hard launch. The true beauty of this kit lies in it’s convertible setup. The kit actually contains "Two Roofs". One hard Top and one immaculately detailed soft top in the up position. If the kit is built "Top Down", the rear tonneau cover is again immaculately detailed but also rather odd. It covers not only the roof well but the rear seat as well. All plastic "Brite Work" is superior in detail but has more of an aluminum look to it. The decal sheet hosts both Racing and "60’s Mod" motifs. I personally own more than 250 diecast metal and plastic autos and without a doubt this kit is the prize of my collection."

Super Teen Firebird (29779 bytes)
This is an old MPC kit of a customized '68 Firebird. Scales is 1/25. At the bottom left corner of the box top are the words "Another George Barris creation built specifically for...". Whatever it was built for is written across the middle of the guitar and I can't make out the words. I believe I read somewhere this car was built for a movie or as a "give-away" car and the kit  was a promotional item but I'm not certain. If anyone can provide any information on this kit please feel free to send me an e-mail.

69 Firebird (54994 bytes)
This is an AMT model of the 1969 Firebird. It was released recently and can probably still be found for sale in model stores. This is another model that can be built as a Trans Am if you choose to as noted on the side shot of the box. It includes the appropriate parts (hood, air extractors, and rear spoiler) and blue decals. The body and other pieces are molded in a dull gray. Chrome pieces include both a set of Rally IIs and a set of custom wheels, the front grill, rear bumper and some miscellaneous engine parts. Decals include the set of blue stripes I already mentioned and single blue and white Rhode Island TW-400 license plate. The kit can alternately rebuilt as a standard Firebird with the correct hood and a hood tach (as seen on the box cover. The kit is date 1993.
