The '89 through '92 Formulas are my favorite 3rd gens. Other than maybe a black '89 GTA this would be the 3rd gen for me. I REALLY wanted one of these back when they were relatively new. They just look awesome and pack all the performance punch too. This ultra-cool Formula is owned by Richard Palmer. Richard writes:

"Here are some pics of my '91 Formula. It has about 40,000 miles which is about 72,000kms (I am in Canada). It is absolutely showroom and gets driven in summer only. If you want more details let me know."

thanks,
Richard Palmer

Unfortunately there are very few 1976 Formulas on the site. I think only three. This pristine example in the classic yellow paint scheme comes to us from Holland and is owned by Perry Roos. Perry writes:

"I Bought the car in April of this year (2002). It had been imported to Sweden where it had been for the last 10 to 15 years. Its originally US made. Many Firebirds in Holland are imported from Switzerland nowadays where they were manufactured by GM Switzerland. It was almost totally original except for the dreadful (and dirty!) casette player which I removed instantly! Also some sad looking headlight-wipers were removed so the view became original. It became apparent that a heavy smoking previous owner had tortured the interior so a big cleaning had to be done but after this it almost looked like new!
After this thorough cleaning I installed a whole new self-made ceiling into the interior and repaired the drivers seat. On the outside it needs a new paint job but this will come later. The "Formula" door-decals will be placed after this. The last owner didn't take the opportunity to place them so they were delivered with the car when he sold it. They were still in the original packing!
Engine is a 2bbl 350 Pontiac with a TH350 automatic. It has about 78,500 miles on the clock now. Recently the block received a new timing chain and gears. They became a bit weak after 27 years........ The car is sleeping in a garage now and only comes out in dry and sunny weather. And unfortunately while I am writing this down the summer in Holland is WET!! More pictures to come."

Greetings , Perry Roos , The Netherlands

Perry recently sent me the last pic in the set and writes:

"Had a great show in France!! Here she is on the Atlantic coast. It is really great to ride the only Bird in town on the boulevard in the evening and all those Frenchies watching!!"

Regards, Perry.

Chas Geno owns this ultra-rare right hand drive (RHD) 1989 Formula. Chas writes:

"Only just found this one, but loved it straight away. Brought in from America as LHD and converted by Sutherlands Queensland Australia to a RHD IN 1989. It is otherwise original. It has a 5.7L - 350 tuned port engine, traveled 60,000 mls. It was licensed in the Northern Territory top end of Australia, outback country, in 2000 number plate (My Fire). Was driven down to Perth West Australia and sat garaged until I spotted it. I'm not sure of exactly how many of these were made maybe some of the members can enlighten me on this. It now has West Australian number plates and is licensed as a 1992 model.

The color is called Cassis Pearl, and the car was painted this color during the winter of 2000/2001. Sorry for my bad english but I really hope that everyone will enjoy my car...."

This 1992 Firebird is owned by Misha and Suzanne. Misha writes:

"After enjoying the pictures on the Firebird Gallery International, I find it a good idea to send you a few pictures of my '92 firebird. In 2001 we wanted to buy a Firebird Trans Am '85 ,but we fell in love with this firebird '92 3.1 V6. This "bird" was originally made for the Nederlands (holland) but we found it in Belgium. The color is factory Light Gray Jade. It's clock shows after 10 years already 200,000 kilometers. The last 4000 we put on it and enjoyed every meter of it. But we think its now necessary to give it a major tune-up. All of the damage is taken care of, and we give it a new paint job. After this we hope We can drive 200,000 kilometers in it and have lots of fun in it on the American car club "The Cruise Brothers". Visit the website on www.cruisebrothers.demon.nl."

I was very surprised to receive this addition to the site. I know NCE did most of their conversions from '79 to '81 but the thought they may have done one of the Anniversary TAs never crossed my mind. Here we have one though in the flesh so to speak. This is a very rare and unique Trans Am. Not only is it one of the Special Edition 10th Anniversary Trans Ams, this one also underwent a conversion by National Coach Engineering to a convertible. Very few 2nd gen convertibles were made and of those many there's not telling how many were '79 Anniversary TAs. This may be the only one. Graeme Annetts from the UK owns this one and writes:

"Hi there, not sure what area my Firebird should go. I will leave it to you guys so here goes. Its a genuine 1979 10th Anniversay T/A, 100% stock. I got it earlier this year from a friend who had it for 17 years; but it has sat in his garage for the last 12 years. It has the 403 motor with 44,000 miles on it. With the car I got the build sheet, owners hand book,  and various service/warranty papers. Most importantly I got the air freight invoice from California to Michigan to National Coach Engineering for the roof conversion. I have searched the net many times for information on these conversions and your site is about the only one with N.C.E on it. I would like you to add my T/A and my e-mail to your site. I live in the UK, there are many f-bodies around but not enough web sites. I hope you find my T/A interesting and I look forward to seeing it on your Firebird Gallery."

Graeme Annetts

Previous to this addition the most sections one car qualified for on the site was two. The record is now three. You can see this one here as well as the National Coach Engineering Lots and the Anniversary Lots.

Red 79 Trans Am (392792 bytes) This 1979 Special Edition (yes special edition) Trans Am is owned by Michael. Michael writes:

"Hi. My name is Michael, and im a 31 year old male from Aarhus, Denmark. I bought this 81 T-Top trans am for parts, but then discovered that it was a Y84!!! It can't be more unoriginal than it is, but I bought it without papers, and I guess that the former owners stripped it for all the S.E. parts, because he couldn't get the papers on the car. I've tracked it to Switzerland, and are now waiting on the papers from them.
The car is a 4.9l black and gold special edition, and if anyone of you great guys reading this could help me find a gold steering wheel, or the gold plate in the dash board, I would be very thankful.
It takes a lot of hard work to build this car back to the original pearl it was, but its worth every minute I'm putting into it. I hope. :-) I'll be back with more pictures and a little story as the project´s moving forward. Thanks for a great site."

Michael

Sebastien Goyett owns this slightly customized 1979 Special Edition Trans Am. Hopefully he's terrorizing all the local vettes and mustangs in Montreal! Sebastien writes:

     "Hi,

I'm sending you the info to put my Trans Am online. Since I'm a child, I'm dreaming about theses cars and I was telling myself that one day, I would have an old car.  At 31 years old, I decide that it was time to realize that dream. So, this is my toy, a 1979 Black Trans Am SE "Special Edition" with T-Top. It is almost original, never winter driven, something really rare for Montreal and it got the original paint. Outside black with the gold Eagle on the Hood and the interior is Camel Under the hood, it got the last year of the 403pc Old's engine with the 3sp Automatic Transmission and limited slip posi-traction differential. Its got 138000km.
This special Edition include the WS6 performance package that include upgraded suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, 15x8 aluminum snowflake wheels with 255/60/15 tires, all power options including Power Door Locks & Power Trunk, rear defogger, and a tilt wheel. Lot of fun for the summer!!!"

thank you,
Sebastien
